NJ Gay Marriage Decision

The written opinion is here. It appears to go short of ordering the State to allow gay marriage, and instead directs the Legislature to come up with the appropriate legislative structure -- most likely civil unions, such as they have in Vermont and Connecticut.

Although the right wingers will howl, and this will become a major issue nationally, it sounds about in line with the what the public in the Northeast feels -- allow homosexuals the rights associated with marriage, but without trampling on the "institution" of marriage.
